you write these words pen on paper and later ink on better paper
with unshaking hands resting on a hardwood table
somewhere where theres a world to watch with a body to feel
and a soul to greet this myriad of sensations
everything tied to you in a time where you feel
utterly and categorically immortal.

there will come a time when the physics chaining you
to this plane will weaken and your hands will start
to tremble and your eyes will fog up and there will
be constant reminders of this vessels material mortality.

what then?

you earn your limits.
earn—thats the words—because it is the everyday
choices in the now that begin to shape the then.
and once these limits affect the mind
you become your own judge jury and jailor
brittle bones replacing steel bars.

ignorance of body
is just as damning as
ignorance of mind.
